Alessandra Cesano, M.D., Ph.D.
Since March 2008, Alessandra Cesano has served as Chief Medical Officer at Nodality, Inc. (San Francisco, CA). In November 2010, she assumed additional responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer. From 2006 until joining Nodality she was at Biogen Idec as Vice President and Medical Officer, Oncology Medical Research. Alessandra has over 15 years experience within the biotech / pharmaceutical industry concentrating in oncology pre-clinical research at The Wistar Institute (Philadelphia, PA), clinical development at both SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (Collegeville, PA) and Amgen Inc. Along her career path, Alessandra has authored over 85 articles for research publications and is co-inventor in five patents. Alessandra is a board certified medical oncologist and holds a PhD in tumor Immunology. She previously held visiting professor and adjunct assistant professor status for the University of Turin (Turin, Italy) and University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) respectively. Alessandra is fluent in Italian, French, and English.
David A. Charapp, J.D.
David Charapp is Partner at Duane Morris LLP. Mr. Charapp represents life sciences and technology companies with their critical partnering, licensing and financing transactions, as well as operational agreements such as those for manufacturing and supply, distribution and clinical and pre-clinical research. In 2010 and 2011, the Legal 500 recognized Mr. Charapp for patent licensing. Mr. Charapp earned his law degree from Boston College Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 1997), where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (B.S., with distinction, 1994).
David Essayan, M.D.
Dr. Essayan is Executive Vice President for ONCORD, Inc., a clinical and regulatory consulting firm based in southern California. Prior to joining ONCORD, David was Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs at Amgen, Inc., where he held global responsibility for both pipeline and marketed products in the inflammation and general medicine therapeutic areas. Prior to Amgen, David was a Supervisory Medical Officer in the Office of Therapeutics Research and Review, CBER/FDA and a Principle Investigator in the Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Biology, CBER/FDA. David received his B.S. in Chemistry from Yale University and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital and his Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he held a faculty appointment for 12 years. David is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Joseph D. Miller, Ph.D.
Dr. Miller is an internationally known neurobiologist and the Director of Pharmacology at the Keck School of Medicine at USC and is currently serving as the Associate Editor for Current Molecular Pharmacology. Dr. Miller also has extensive experience with animal models and related studies. In addition, he has 35 years of experience in in vivo studies, including small animal surgery, stereotactic surgery, drug injection protocols, anesthetization and perfusion in a wide variety of species.
Janet L. Nichol, Ph.D.
Dr. Nichol is a known expert in megakaryocyte cellular biology and is a pioneer in thrombocytopenia drug development. She is the former Executive Director, AMG 531 Product Strategy Team Leader, Oncology Global Development at Amgen.
Linda Pullan, Ph.D.
Dr. Pullan has 20 years of experience in the pharma and biotech industry as former Vice President of Business Development of Kosan Biosciences, Head of Oncology and Hematology Licensing at Amgen, Collaborations Manager at what is now AstraZeneca, and in drug discovery research at what is now Pfizer.
Anthony W. Tolcher, M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)
Dr. Anthony W. Tolcher is the Director of Clinical Research at START. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He performed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Toronto and his fellowship in oncology at the University of British Columbia. He followed this with a research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Tolcher was the Director of Clinical Research at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC) in San Antonio from 2003 until April, 2007, and prior to that served as the Associate Director at the CTRC from 1999 to 2003.
